29/5/2007 Rear seats

Well after about 10 years, I've finally got round to fitting rear seats into the Dakar. Mainly forced by the fact that Ive now got two kids and cant take the whole family out with only two seats.
Ive used two Corbeau Sportsman seats, which are narrow seats used for Westfields and the like. I selected these, because the distance between my rear arches is narrower than a standard dakar, due to a bit of a cockup with the arches. I used a pair of Securon 500/30 seatbelts, which are attached to a very thick piece of angle iron that bolts to the chassis at the rear. (Which was fitted during the build 10 years ago!)

The top brackets were attached by drilling through the bodywork and then making a spacer to ensure that the bracket pulls down tightly against the chassis and not the body.

And that's about it. Both our front and rear facing seats fit in, although the front facing seat is on the full extent of the belt.

Dakar Scuff Protectors

This is an idea from Club Member David Livingstone to protect your sills when getting in and out.
I used a sheet of thin Aluminium Chequer Plate, The round edge of this box section matches the profile of the sill exactly.
