Welcome to a new branch in my website.

Regular readers will notice this new menu system.  After probably 13 years of manually creating the pages and sorting the photos out on my website, it has become far too difficult to manage. I was using “Homesite” which is ancient.

Previously I had to resize the photos, upload the big and small versions, manually update the menu system and create all the hyperlinks between pages and then FTP all the files up. Quite frankly I have better things to do with my time. Because its so cumbersome, I tend to only put things up that are of major significance and I rarely update other pages.

I’m now using Serif Page Plus which is a great product and only costs about £40. It looks after all the images, hyperlinks the menu system and uploading of the content - its a huge time saver for me.

The main problem I have, is that despite my extremely simplistic pages, when I try to import them into the new package they bare no resemblance to the original. I tried it with the P38 guide and gave up - it was quicker to start with a blank page and copy and paste the text over. I’m not going to do that with all my other pages.

So this is my solution for now, a slightly confusing double menu system. The top menu is the original menu and the left menu is the auto-generated Serif menu. Generally speaking all new content will appear under the lefthand menu.  I will have hyper links between old and new to try and keep it flowing.

Not the most elegant solution - but at least I can create new pages quickly and easily.
