Water meter

Given I have a mains pressurised water system, I started looking into ways of measuring or detecting water flow. My original plan was to fit another water meter inside the house which had an electrical pulse counter fitted. The idea is that this would feed the home automation with a pulse every litre. There were quite a few meters to chose from on ebay, but I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a white elephant that didn’t work - so I plumped for a cheap one.

Once I received it, it quickly became apparent that it was too small for my new 25mm water service.  So the plan is to use the sensor(magnetic reed relay) from the meter I bought and attach it to the the suppliers meter, because I noticed that the dial also has the same little magnet on it. Photo below shows the white ducting I fitted into the side of the meter box ready for my wiring!

Garage

Don’t really want to post the contents of my Garage all over the Internet, but here’s a couple of photos of some details.  I’ve taken advantage of the high ceiling with some custom shelves made from 40x40x3 angle iron and 18mm plywood.

And today’s project is this over engineered bench that’s being made from wood salvaged from the old bungalow.

Some selected photos of the completed house as of March 2013. Still lots to do, but budget doesn’t permit at the moment.

False wall for flat screen

I had a false wall added to the living room. The real wall is 200mm behind the plasterboard. The wall-mount for the TV goes on the real wall and then you push the telly into the false wall.  This allows you to hide all the cables and power adapters behind the wall, accessed via a hatch.

I used a laser level to project the cutting lines onto the wall - got a very precise fit.  The only problem, is that its so tight you cant here the sound from the telly.
